Calories in Alcohol

My co-worker was telling me about this low-cal vodka. So I had to look it up since calories relatively the same depending on the amount of the alcohol. The results are shocking... ly... unsurprising.

Review: Voli vodka

This review is based on caloric intake, not the taste or the purity of the spirit (hangover).

Voli states on their website that their vodkas are on average 25% and 40% lower calorie than leading brands. Voli Lyte vodka is 30% alcohol content and 60 proof. That goes with the fact that  the higher the alcohol content, the higher the calories.

For instance, Ketel One is 40% alcohol content and 80 proof. Both Voli and Ketel One contain .8 calorie per proof.

If the prices of a bottle of Voli and Ketel One are the same, then getting the one with a higher alcohol content is more cost effective since you can water down your drink by adding more ice, club soda, or unsweetened tea.

Below is a table of the brands of vodka and their calorie content listed at http://www.drinksmixer.com/desc28.html, note that most vodkas are 80 proof.
